JESUS AND THE COIN
The Test of Taxes

Matthew 22:15-22
Please read this
This reading tells the story of Jesus being questioned by the Pharisees about paying taxes to Caesar. Here's the gist:
The Pharisees try to trap Jesus by asking if it's lawful to pay taxes to Caesar. Jesus asks whose image is on the coin (Caesar's) and replies, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's." This response teaches us to respect authority and fulfill our obligations while prioritizing our devotion to God.
In Matthew 22:15-22, the Pharisees ask Jesus if it's lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, trying to trap him. Jesus responds by asking whose image is on the coin (Caesar's), implying that we should give to Caesar what belongs to him (taxes, authority).
But then he adds, "and to God what is God's," emphasizing that our ultimate allegiance is to God. It's a clever response that highlights the distinction between earthly and spiritual obligations.
This passage teaches us to respect authority and laws and to fulfill our civic duties and to prioritize also our devotion to God.
For those who want to receive Jesus Christ, please repeat after me:
Dear God,
I know I'm a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is your Son, who died for my sins and rose again. I invite Jesus into my heart and life, accepting him as my Lord and Savior.
Please forgive me and give me eternal life. I want to follow you.
Thank you for your love and grace. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen!
Final Prayer: God, help me to honor You in all I do, and to respect the authorities, You've placed in my life. Give me wisdom to navigate the complexities of this world, and may my actions reflect Your love and character. Amen.!
Be blessed and have a wonderful Sunday!
