Importance of Supplication

Acts 9 :36 - 42

God blesses us to bless others. Our blessing is composed of two parts: the first part is about food that is for our personal resource to feed ourselves; and the second part is known as seed. Food is for us to eat and seed is to help us to give to people . We will use the seed to bless people around us. In Philippians 4: 6 - 7 we read: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests made known to God and the peace of God , which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”. When we pray, we remind God what we did for others and this is what we call prayer of supplication and from there, God hears and answers our prayer . Our prayer touches God’s heart. We can see this act of giving or sowing into someone’s life as we read about Dorcas’ story. Dorcas used to make outfits for widows and this is how she used to support them. Dorcas became sick and died. The widows and disciples gathered to take care of her body. Peter also came, because they called him, and he heard also the news and the way Dorcas made clothes for widows,

When she passed away, all the widows came together remembering all the good things Dorcas had done for them. They testified to Peter about how generous Dorcas is and Peter was impressed about all the testimonies. Dorcas had a good and awesome gift of hospitality. She took care of the needs of widows in her community just as the scripture teaches us to do. Peter prayed and Dorcas came to life. Peter leans on that supplication.
God hears our prayer, our support ,our generosity, sees our care and briefly our supplications; then when we pray we can lean on these above as we pray to God. We have to help the needy. Prayer becomes effective when we lean on supplications.

Prayer: Father God, we thank you for everything you did for us. Help us to help others as Dorcas did. Help us to know how to pray effectively. Bless us more and remind us to be a blessing to others. May your will be done in our lives in Jesus Christ’s name we pray. Amen!
