The good soil

The word

Mark 4:14-20

In this passage, Jesus explains the parable of the Sower. A Sower represents someone who spreads God's word. Different types of soil represent people's responses. In the real world, this message is reflected this way. We have 4 categories of people coming to church services when the word is preached.  Some people hear the word as a seed along the path where the word is sown, as soon as they hear it, Satan takes the word, they can not remember what was said during church service. Others like seeds sown on rocky places , hear the word, receive it with joy but then the word will fall away quickly from them during trouble or persecution.  Still, others like seeds sown among thorns, hear the word but worry about this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and desires for other things come in and choke the word making it unfruitful. Others, the seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop, some 30,some 60 and some 100 times what was sown. So which kind of seed are we when we listen to the word of God or we read ? May the Lord Jesus Christ help us to be the seed sown on good soil. This reading talks also about how different people respond to God's message and the importance of a receptive heart.

Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I want to turn from my sins, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is your son. I believe He died for my sins and that you raised Him to life. I want you Jesus Christ to come into my heart and to take control of my life. I want to trust you as my Savior and Lord and follow you from this day forward as you grant me with your Favor. In Jesus Christ’s name I’ve prayed. Amen!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, God of Abraham, thank you for sending Jesus Christ to us. Thank you for shedding your blood on the cross to pay the price for us. We are forever grateful to you. Help us to acknowledge you through your word planted in us, help us to believe in you always and never getting stopped to receive the opportunities of your goodness through your word. Never let your word on our lips vanish from our hearts. God, let your word change us to be the people you made us to be, and for our faith to be solid no matter what the events of life might be. Help us to be a good soil. We pray this prayer in Jesus Christ's name. Amen!
