Everyone sins
No one is perfect
Ezekiel 22:30-31
"I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. So I will pour out my wrath on them and consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on them all they have done, declares the Sovereign Lord."
Commentary:
In this passage, God expresses His deep disappointment and sorrow over the sins of His people, Israel. Despite His repeated calls to repentance, they continued to rebel against Him. Verse 30 describes God's search for someone, anyone, who would intercede on behalf of the land and stand in the gap between God's wrath and His people. The phrase "stand in the gap" is a Hebrew idiom that means to intercede or mediate on behalf of someone. However, God found no one worthy to stand in the gap. This is a stark contrast to Abraham's intercession for Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis 18:22-33, where Abraham negotiated with God to spare the cities if even just a few righteous people could be found. As a result of finding no one to Ezekiel, intercede, God declares that He will pour out His wrath upon His people, consuming them with His fiery anger (verse 31). This passage serves as a warning of the consequences of sin and rebellion against God. Theological themes: 1. God's desire for intercession: God is willing to spare His people if someone would stand in the gap and intercede on their behalf. 2. Human responsibility: The passage highlights the importance of human responsibility and agency in responding to God's calls to repentance. 3. Consequences of sin: The passage serves as a warning of the severe consequences of sin and rebellion against God.
I think no one can stand before God if it is not His Grace. No one is pure on this earth except Jesus Christ. So let us pray and ask for forgiveness and let us receive our lord Jesus Christ.
For this new year, let us receive Him for those who did not receive Him please do so before it will be too late.
For those who want to receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, please repeat after me:
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to you as a sinner, forgive my sins, As I receive you, please change me to not go back to my sins. Wash me so I will be white as snow and write my name in the book of live in Jesus Christ name I pray, Amen!
